Brief

With classic cars, it is difficult to find original spare parts, especially small interior components. The client had damaged seat belt covers and was looking for a way to replace them.

Solution

We scanned the damaged part and created a 3D model from the captured data. We remodelled the missing and damaged sections so the part is whole again. We then printed the new part with FDM technology.

Why scanning? When a part is no longer in catalogues and there is no drawing, a scan is the fastest way to capture its shape. The damaged areas are then completed in the model.

Result

The client received a new cover in the shape of the original, which replaced the damaged piece in the interior of the classic car.

  • Process: 3D scan, completion of the model, printing
  • Manufacturing technology: FDM 3D printing
